Nervous about Uterine Fibroid Surgery?
We've got you covered.
Dr. Wood and Dr. Saha have helped many women find relief with a micro-invasive vascular procedure that shrinks uterine fibroids without harming your uterus.
Doesn't Mean You Should Have to Give Up Your Uterus.
When your doctor advises a hysterectomy, you may experience a range of feelings, such as irritation, sadness, and loss. Both the notion of having a major operation and the possibility of losing your uterus and potentially your fertility can be emotionally taxing.
You may find yourself getting stressed and anxious thinking:
- Am I ready to give up my ability to have children?
- Will I ever be the same after surgery?
- What side effects am I going to have to live with?
But Doesn't a Myomectomy Spare My Uterus?
Although not as invasive as hysterectomy, myomectomy is still a major surgical procedure that creates significant trauma to the uterus. There are 2 versions of this procedure, both work by surgically removing each fibroid from your uterus.
Laparoscopic Myomectomy
A surgery that is performed through small incisions in the abdomen, using a laparoscope (a thin, lighted tube with a camera) to guide the surgical instruments.
Abdominal Myomectomy
a traditional surgery that is performed through a larger incision in the abdomen, allowing the surgeon to have a better view of the uterus and surrounding organs.
But many women opt not to go through with this procedure because:
- Fibroids can come back after the procedure
- Developing scar tissue and adhesions
- Weeks of uncomfortable recovery time
- Decreased chances of pregnancy
